Original pop/rock with serious reach. Vein formed in the late 1990s in Hommersåk, Norway, with a sound described as American and British-inspired pop-rock. By 2001 Rob was on board on bass and vocals — joining Jostein Markhus (guitar, vocals), Bjørn Erik Sørensen (guitar) and Knut Arne Øye (drums).
The band's debut EP Another Way was recorded at Wee Lydstudio and finished at West Audio Studios in Stavanger, released in 2003 under Universal Records. Six tracks — Another Way, Be Good, Can't Be Wrong, Love Is Gone, Now I'm Free and Something Like That — picked up airplay across Scandinavia and beyond. The band also supported legendary British rock band Slade on tour, as well as Swedish singer-songwriter Björn Rosenström, a milestone for the Hommersåk outfit.
For Rob, Vein was a creative turning point — his first proper experience of original songwriting and studio production from the ground up, skills that would later feed directly into his media work with show-design.co. You can still hear the energy of those sessions in the recordings today.
